Magnesite

Magnesite deposits, large and rich enough to mine economically to produce commercial-quality products, occur only in certain parts of the world. Turkey’s favourable geology, with its ophiolite belts, extensive ultramafic rocks and widespread sedimentary basins makes this possible.

Turkey has numerous high grade magnesite deposits, the most important being located in Eskişehir, Kütahya and Konya, all of which contain vein type, cryptocrystalline magnesite.

MADKIM, since its foundation in 1984, offers different grades of magnesium carbonate with low silica and iron content and a white, light yellow colour from its own quarries located in Harmancık, Bursa, or when necessary by blending with other reliable sources.

Magnesite is used mainly as:

  • An ingredient in the ceramic industry (flux to improve mechanical properties, a glaze ingredient, an engobe ingredient)

  • Raw material for MgO used in the lining of industrial furnaces

  • An Ingredient in the chemical industry (paint, ink, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics)

  • Fillers in polymers for flame retardancy

MADKIM provides a safe, fast, competitive and specialized service to supply the product demand of international markets.

Since 1984 Madkim has been shipping loads of bulk raw magnesite lumps internationally. To ensure our quality we closely survey all stages from magnesite production to ship loading.
