Chrome

Chromite is an oxide mineral composed of chromium, iron and oxygen, dark gray to black with high specific gravity. Commercial chromite deposits large enough for mining are generally found in stratiform and podiform deposits. Chromite ore is mined in over 20 countries, but about 80% originates in 4 countries: South Africa, India, Kazakhstan and Turkey. Chromite, being the only economic source of chromium, is important and an essential element for a wide variety of metal, chemical and manufactured products:

  • Its main area of application is in the production of ferrochrome which makes up approximately 90% of stainless steel

  • Chromium is also used as pigment in many types of paint, ink, dye and cosmetics

  • Trace amounts produce colors in gemstones such as the red of the ruby, pink of the sapphire, and green of the emerald.

MADKIM, with its know-how and experience, has successfully carried out and continues to export lump and concentrate chrome to international markets since 2006.
